Honolulu Zoo

This zoo does not have adequate parking. In fact the only parking is public and it's right on Waikiki beach so of course there are no openings. We had to park next to a homeless guy that cleRly lives out of his van. I hope our van is still there when we get back.....

The zoo is small but cute. There is a lot of park area, nice landscaping but a lot of it seemed to be under construction. Link was loving chasing the nasty pigeons. He would chase, they would get away, he would cry.

The elephants looked like wooly mammoths because they were covered with the lovely red dirt. They were active and moving around. The giraffes were awake too. Eating from a tree.

Lincoln's favorite thing was the koi fish in the children's zoo. You could climb in a tube and be with the fish. He was so excited!! He kept saying "big fish".

Harrison was a happy boy as usual. He just wanted to look around and watch everybody.

And then he fell asleep

We went all the way to honolulu and the silly put your face here sign had to be a cow.

Manoa Falls

Driving to manoa falls was interesting. We were told it was a hike through the rainforest and the gps took us to downtown honolulu. Of course like anywhere on this island just 3 miles from where we turned downtown ended up being a whole new place. As son as we drove into the wooded area the temperature dropped 5 degrees. Not complaining at all! The hike was shaded and not muddy or buggy which were the warnings I had read. It wasn't paved like the lighthouse trail it was gravel (side note I need better shoes to hike in I fell on my butt!) Ethan made it the whole way up and back with no complaints. Harrison slept pretty much the entire time. And Lincoln loved all the rocks and sticks you can find in a rainforest. He wanted to touch every leaf but Ethan said that would take forever so he couldn't. When we got up to the waterfall we were pretty disappointed. It was more of a trickle than a fall. Ethan said it looked like a dripping faucet. At the end of the trail was a shop called "rainbows end" that had the most delicious  shaved ice we have found so far. Ethan said he would climb it again if he can get shaved ice at the end.

The biggest tree I have ever seen in my life!

Ethan sat here to lol at the scenery and said "can you believe this is real?"

The trickle

Lincoln walked part of the way down and he said "rock" for the first time!

So many rocks to choose from!

Such a rebel!
Do not disturb!

Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail

I survived our first hike!!! With the baby strapped to me lol. We did stop several times to watch the humpback whales playing on the water but who wouldn't? Ethan wore the wrong socks and got blisters on both feet so he stayed at the halfway point whale watching while bill and I finished the trail. Views were amazing on the way up but the view from the top was the gorgeous! The actual lighthouse wasn't all that impressive but the water and islands were beautiful. When we got to the top we saw a whale slap the water and then it was waving with it's fin. So neat!
When we got back down to Ethan he said he didn't see any whales. I don't know how this is possible because they were everywhere. He is just a terrible looker! The only one he saw was on the sign.

Lincoln and harrison both slept most of the way but Lincoln did see the top view and the whales.
