September is Gone

Hard to believe it's October already. We've been living in Missouri for 5 months already. Crazy! Looking forward to coming home this winter. Still have no clue when that will be, but still excited about it :)

Ethan insisted on wearing this crown everywhere today, and wanting people to "bow to the King". As you can see, his nose is all healed now. He does have a small bump/bruise on his forehead because he had footed jammies on yesterday and slid into the coffee table with his head. Good thing our table is rounded, or we might have had a flashback to when I was little!

Here are his awesome glow-in-the-dark jammies Granny got him. This is apparently a skeleton face. The picture is supposed to say Happy Anniversary Granny & Papa - not sure why it turned blurry on me.
And here he is playing Guitar Hero. Bill found it when we cleaned out our basement this weekend (yes it's finally clean!). We set up a little craft area for us to do our messy stuff, and Bill has an area to do his weight lifting (although I'm betting he still never uses the bench). It's so nice to be able to walk down there without crap every where. I brought a lot of stuff to Goodwill on Monday.
Also, our caterpillar died. It turned red and got hard, not sure what happened. We then caught a fuzzy red & black one that was cute, but turned out to be poisonous (found out after we pet it of course) so I let that one go too. I think we'll just order some babies in the spring from the butterfly house thing that we got last summer, those worked really well & fast.

Scab Face

The other night E was messing around putting his face on the screen door. He had this red bump on the side of his nose, and we thought it was a bug bite from playing outside. Yesterday it looked like a bruise, and today it is a scab. So I guess he somehow must have hit his nose on the door. He didn't cry or anything though. So now he has a big old scab on his face and 3 or 4 mosquito bites. Poor little scabface.

It's been cooler out this week, and rainy, so we got to bust out some of E's new fall clothes finally. Now that he'll be going to school in the mornings when it's cooler, I think he'll be wearing mostly pants. He did get into the morning class, and is starting on October 8th. They are making us wait 2 weeks before he can switch, but his teacher is trying to make it happen faster. Not sure what she can do about it, if anything, but it does seem dumb to make him be in this class for 2 more weeks and then switching. I should find out tomorrow if she can make it happen faster. It would be nice if he could start on Monday in the new class instead of on a Thursday too!

Bill is at home today because he was supposed to be in his motorcycle safety class and it was cancelled because of rain. This is what my husband looks like 70% of the time :P

Moving On Up

I got to E's school early today to talk with the teacher and see how he's doing since he crys and screams and doesn't want to go. She told me he's really good in class, knows all the answers, etc but she thinks he'd do better in the morning class - which is basically the getting ready for kindergarten class that we should have put him in in the first place.

So now I've been chasing back and forth trying to switch him into the morning class. It will be every day, Mon - Fri from 8:30 - 11:30. I think that once he gets into it he'll like it a lot better. The kids will all be his age (he's the oldest in the class he's in right now) and they are working on things more on his level - writing & sounds of letters, simple math, etc.

Only problem is they won't let me switch him for 2 weeks so now he has 2 more weeks in this class and then he'll start in the new class. I feel kind of bad to make him go into a class where he doesn't know anyone and start all over again, but like I said, I think it will be better for him in the long run. His teacher said that he doesn't really connect with the kids in his class because they are all younger. He will still have the same teachers, so that will help.

Our caterpiller is still alive - we gave him some fresh leaves today. He sort of looks a different color - more of a dark reddish brown. Not sure what that means.

We went to see "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" this weekend in 3D. It was ok, Ethan sat really nice and liked it. It's storming here right now and he keeps looking out the window to see if there is a spaghetti tornado coming LOL The movie was much better than the book - which we gave to Goodwill after reading once. I remember reading it when I was little and liking it though - guess I didn't have good taste.

Oh, something else cute he asked this weekend. He wanted to know if there was any color in Kansas. I guess he was paying attention when we watched "The Wizard of Oz".

Happy Anniversary Grandma & Grandpa!

58 years is pretty darn amazing! I've only been married 4 years and could kill him half the time :P Not sure how you made it to 58!!

Can't wait for you 60th party...start planning it people that still live in Kenosha!

Here's me & Grandpa at the 50th Anniversary...my how I've changed in the last 8 years. Ethan said that was Auntie Heather in the picture and didn't believe it was me LOL

Five Little Fishies

Ethan bites the dust

Today was E's first soccer game. Sadly, I do not have much to report. He was perfectly fine all the way up until we got to the field, and then as soon as he was by his team he started melting down. He didn't want to warm up with them or practice. He just sat on the field not listening. Finally we told him if he didn't do what the coach told him, he wouldn't have video games for a week - he didn't care. So then we decided to just leave, made him tell his coach he quit and went home.

I'm not sure what to do about it. I don't want him to think it's ok to quit, but I don't want him to do it if he hates it. It's just weird because he has been liking practice and kept saying he wanted to play a game instead of doing practice. Now game day comes and he wants nothing to do with it. I'm not going to fight and get mad at each other about it every week.

He said he's done forever, so I guess we're not going to push it. Maybe when he's older. Sigh.

Here are a few pictures of him in his cute uniform. The first one really sums up his attitude at the game today.

Little Sicky

It's a good thing we didn't venture to Kenosha this weekend - E is sick. He's had a fever & headache since Thursday night and now a tummy ache too. I just got him to eat some yogurt - but other than that he has not eaten much in the past 2 days - a sandwich yesterday - well ok, a bun with butter on it. If he still is sick tomorrow I'm going to take him to the DR Monday. Ever since he started school with these dirty army kids I tell ya. First ringworm, now this!

So Daddy moved the TV into his room so he can lay down and watch some movies. He wants to play gamecube, but I'm not sure if I'm going to let him, he gets too excited :P

Bill got home at 2 am. Thankfully one of his friends gave him a ride home, so I didn't have to get E up in the middle of the night. He graduated from his class thingy that he was gone for so that should help when he goes to the board for his promotion next month. Yay!!

I found an old memory card from my old old camera when cleaning yesterday, and popped it in the computer. Pictures of baby Ethan...he was so chubby :)

Hope everyone has a good Labor Day weekend! Pretty sure we're going to be at home.

No, E they aren't taking a nap....

When we moved down in June, Ethan had a fish tank for his new room. There wasn't any room in his bedroom, so we had to put it in the play/computer room. We got it all set up & he picked out two striped zebra fish. He named them Maya & Stripes.

He hasn't looked at them since -until this morning. I was in the kitchen loading the dishwasher and he came in and said "Mommy come look - my fish are playing dead. They are laying down taking a nap". Ut oh!

So obviously these two fish are dead, laying on the bottom of the tank. They do look like they are sleeping, but I told him they were dead. And asked him when he fed them last - we never remember too - sorry fish!

He wasn't really sad about it, but now we'll clean the tank out this weekend. Probably get rid of it too b/c we obviously don't remember to feed our fish!!

Bill's been gone a week...

and now we're bored :P Last week we kept pretty busy with school & soccer. I attempted to teach myself to sew, and ended up with a Halloween rag quilt & some bathroom curtains that don't look half bad woo hoo. Going to stick to sewing straight lines for a while though.

Saturday we went over to Springfield to the mall, but didn't find anything good. I'm still bitter that they don't have a GAP there, it's just wrong. What mall doesn't have a GAP?! We did stop at Hobby Lobby and pick up some fabric. Mom helped me recover the kitchen chairs so they don't look so disgusting. Now I have to find a way to keep them clean. I think I'm going to cover Ethan's in plastic - he seems to think that a chair is his napkin - even when his actual napkin is sitting in front of him.

Sunday we spent a few hours in the ER. E had this weird looking thing on his leg that I was afraid was a bug bite of some kind. It kept getting bigger, so we took him in. Turns out it is ringworm - gross!! Not sure where he picked it up - thinking either at school or at the fair from the dirty rides. But it's already looking much better - and should be cleared up by the weekend.

Soccer was terrible last night. E was being sooo naughty!! Sitting on the field, laying on the field, kicking the cones, picking up the cones and looking through them, putting grass in the cones, he was on the wrong field half the time, stuck in the net, not listening to his coaches....ugh. So he's not having video games today b/c he can't listen. It's sure to be a long day, but video games is the only thing he seems to care about these days, so hopefully he'll listen better tomorrow.

Bill is due back sometime Friday or Saturday as far as I know. He can't call us this week b/c they are out in the field doing something. We're still not sure if we'll come home this weekend with my parents. I would feel bad leaving the day he got home, so I guess it depends when he actually gets here. Hopefully I'll find out on Wednesday.
