October 29

Today was career day at school - and Ethan made it through the entire day with no fever!! Yay!! At first, he said he wanted to work at McDonald's, but then he changed his mind, and at the moment he wants to be an eye doctor when he grows up, BUT he has to go to college close to home because he wants to live with me forever :)

This evening we went to a haunted house/Halloween party thrown by Bill's work. The chicken boys (and me) wouldn't go in the haunted house, so we snuck in the back and played the games and got the candy. They were giving away brand new books and DVDs, I think we ended up with 6 or 7 movies and 2 books and a ton of candy. Oh, and they gave us pumpkins too, so we can carve them tomorrow.
How cute is this peanut butter cup...it has a pumpkin face!!

October 28

Another day with no school :( I think he missed as many days as he went this month! He still has a low-grade fever, but his head isn't hurting anymore. As long as his fever stays down, I'm going to send him to school tomorrow. *Fingers crossed*

Bill's parents, Sami & William just got down here, so I really hope E feels good enough to play and have fun this weekend :)

October 27

Well, Mr. Ethan is still sick. He tried to go to school today, but he got sent home half way through the day because his fever came back :( He's going to stay home again tomorrow, and hopefully be good to go on Friday. He is starting to cough a bit now, which is not good.

Because this blog is super lame with no pictures, here is a Halloween flash back :)

4 Month Old Baby Ethan's first Halloween, this is still my favorite costume ever. It's one of the few things I have saved for our next baby.

For some reason, I don't have any pictures of him on his 2nd Halloween on the computer. He was a little fat chicken :) Here he is with his pumpkin.

2 years old he was a little monkey. I love the banana in his pocket :)3 years old and a cute little bee...
And then last year, the first year he really picked his own costume. He went away from my cute animal theme and picked the devil LOL He was a cute devil though.

October 26

My poor boy is still sick :( The radiologist confirmed that he has pnemonia. His only symptoms are fever and headaches though, and they said the headaches are probably from the fever and being dehydrated. His fever was up to 103, and they told me to give him tylenol and ibuprofin, and that the antibiotics will take a few days to work. His little head hurts a lot though, even with the pain relievers which worries me, but they said it's ok. He's going to miss pajama day at school tomorrow, which he is not happy about, but he can't go back to school until he doesn't have a fever. Hopefully he'll feel better tomorrow!

October 25

No new pictures today because my poor baby boy is sick again :( He has a fever and has been getting headaches. They did bloodwork and a chest XRAY, checking for mono or pnemunia. The mono test we won't get back for a week, and the x-ray said his lungs were a little cloudy, but not too bad. Thankfully his white blood count is back down (it was up a few weeks ago when he was in there). She put him back on antibiotics so hopefully he'll feel better tomorrow. I'm so tired of my boy getting sick all the time. Dirty kindergarten!

October 24

E carved his pumpkin today! He originally said he wanted it to be super spooky, but then he decided he wanted it to look like him :) So he made a silly/scary face and we tried to give the pumpkin the same expression. I think it turned out cute.

October 23

Today was Lowe's building day. We left Daddy at home this weekend and are at Granny and Papa's house, so Mommy had to help him with the project today. It is a flapping bat, very cute, but if you look closely, one wing is on backwards :P

We also went to "Papa's Pumpkin Patch". It was cute, and perfect for Ethan's age. Ethan always likes the corn mazes, and they had the big tractor tires full of corn to play in. The had a big bouncy house that he pretty much had to himself while we were there, and some little games set up. He picked out the weirdest looking pumpkin he could find, because he wants it to be super scary after he carves it.

Happy Birthday Sami!

October 21

Report card day!! It's hard to believe Kindergarten is a quarter over already. Soon it will be Christmas, and he'll be half done..yikes! We had a conference with Ethan's teacher tonight. He had his last screening today for the gifted program, so we should be finding out pretty soon if he'll be accepted into it. His teacher has high hopes for him and really hopes he'll get in. She said that she is now sending him 2 days a week to do 1st grade math & reading. His first report card was awesome, 100 in math, reading, technology, gym, and music and a 95 in Art.

Bill mowed a patch of the back yard this weekend so I can use the clothesline. E got to play in the yard for a bit this afternoon - he was hunting...not sure what for, but we found this cute little frog :)

We went to the park today - probably one of the last days this year E will get to wear shorts. It was 82* when I picked him up from school!

October 17

Penguins!! Ethan told me yesterday that his two favorite things are penguins & candy corn LOL He picked a penguin backpack for kindergarten, and is dying for a penguin pillow pet for Christmas. So I was thinking about penguins, and realized that I never really blogged about our trip to Florida.

SeaWorld was actually our last day of vacation. We were all tired, hot and most of the members of our party were sunburned *cough*heather*cough*scott*cough*bill* - but a penguin and puffin meet and greet was so worth it. It was a special "backstage" tour that we signed up for ahead of time. We met in the giftshop and our tour guide took us through the regular penguin exhibit where she taught us about penguins and we could ask questions. Then we went IN the exhibit - yes we are that awesome!

First we got to meet a puffin - I can't remember it's name, but we weren't allowed to touch it because it apparently projectile poops a lot. Ethan asked a LOT of questions about them - what they eat, if they were cousins with penguins, etc. It was very cute that he wanted to know about them.
After the puffin room, we went into the hall, and Ludwig the penguin came waddling out. He is adorable, isn't he?! Ethan wasn't scared at all - I was afraid he would be and not want to touch him, but he was all about petting him. In case you ever wondered, penguins feel like a wet short haired dog. He didn't feel like he was covered in feathers really, and his wings are heavy and thick like boomarangs.
We got to walk into the actual exhibit for a bit and look around - it's freezing in there! I think it's really neat that it actually snows in there too :) We met another friend, Kobe and then the two penguins started getting loud. They make his very loud trumpeting noise and raise their necks up high (so they were taller than Ethan). E didn't like the noise much! We learned that they make the noise to try to compete for attention, just like little kids lol.

Ethan liked penguins before we met them, but he never really showed a preference or a "favorite" animal until after this. I think it helps that Scott loves penguins too, and according to Ethan "Scott is awesome" ;) As I write this, E is in the bath playing with a swimming penguin toy he just got. I wonder if we met an elephant he would change his mind....?

October 16

Today we went to the zoo in Springfield. It was a nice day, and aside from the disgusting peacocks, the zoo is nice too :) It was decorated for Halloween, which was fun - next weekend is trick or treat at the zoo which would be neat, but we're heading to the pumpkin farm then.

The elephants & tigers were actually active, but a lot of the animals weren't. We did get to feed the giraffes - they were eating dead leaves that had fallen from the trees!

Ethan's favorite part was probably playing on the playground and eating popcorn and his snowcone.

October 15

Ethan had his class field trip to the pumpkin farm today. It was at least an hour away, and was lame...I miss Jerry Smiths! Anywho, E had fun, and got to pick 2 pumpkins. It's so funny to see him with his classmates. All the little girls want to hold his hand, and all the little boys wanted to sit by him on the hayride. He is so unlike me lol

Check out the cute shirts they made at school too! They tye-dyed them and then painted faces on.

October 13

I took Ethan to get slushies at Sonic after school (happy hour - half price drinks!) and then we stopped at the park. It was windy today, and a bit chilly but it felt nice. All was well until E fell off the swing and started screaming like a banshee so we came home. He's fine, just said his fingers hurt. I'm not sure how he hurt his fingers because he fell backwards, on his booty. He has a fever tonight too, so hopefully he's not getting sick AGAIN!!
