Build and Grow

I discovered that twice a month Lowe's has a free clinic for kids to come in and build a FREE (my favorite part) craft/project. I finally remembered to sign up for one, and now E is hooked. Each time you build something, you get a patch to put on your (also free) apron. Today he built a little wooden school bus with a chalk board top. It's very cute, and he's proud of himself!

Next month he is signed up to make a dog leash holder & a firetruck! He wants to collect 100 patches!!

Super Mario

Ethan decided that pirates aren't cool, and he wants a Super Mario room. So now that I have a ton of time on my hands to work on projects, I'm slowing starting to make things for his new "bigger boy" room. So here is my first completed project - a small night table. I found the table at Goodwill for $4, sanded it down (ok Bill might have helped a LITTLE with that part), had Bill spray paint it blue and then painted the first scene from Super Mario Bros. 1 on the table top. I think it turned out pretty good! I've never free hand painted before, so I'm pretty proud of myself LOL

I just had to fill out my first "How old are you" survey with 29. Yikes!! I feel like I should do something cool/exciting/interesting in the next year before I turn 30. Maybe I'll take E bungee jumping :P

Thank you to everyone who sent cards & called today. Most of the day I was home alone working on Ethan's Mario quilt, but we went out to dinner tonight at a Mexican restaurant by our house. I can honestly say I've never been serenaded by a group of 7 Mexican men while wearing a sombrero and being spoon-fed whipped cream by one of them. It was quite the experience. Of course the weirdo ended up shoving whipped cream all over my face and up my nose. Anyone know if there is some kind of Mexican tradition of spoon-feeding whipped cream on your birthday? I hope so, because if not that is just odd!!
Here is my cake, reminds me of home. Just like Grandma makes :P

I can smell the parking lot

We went to the State Fair today with Granny & Papa.
Ethan's best things that happened today were...

riding the scary ferris wheel with Mommyriding a camel with Daddy
and winning 2 goldfish (named Princess Peach & Princess Daisy)

The worst things that happened were....

getting electricuted..shortly after this picture was taken he reached out and touched Papa. There was a hole in Papa's shirt & his belly & Ethan's fingers both got burned.

Look what I did yesterday :(

I was backing out of the garage to go get Ethan from school and I clipped the side of the lawn mower, and somehow did all that damage. Clearly, it's Bill's fault for not moving the mower somewhere else :P Right now we're just waiting to here from the insurance people to see what we should do. Bill pulled the whole bumper off so that I can drive it, but it looks pretty ghetto.

On a positive note, E really likes school so far :) He brought home his first spelling words yesterday: A, a, see, me, for, is. Of course he already knew them all, but I'm excited they are starting to learn to read already. Today he made a book that he can read all by himself, that he was pretty excited to show me. He also tried hot lunch for the first time. He didn't eat "even one bite" :( He said it looked too gross. I knew he should have stuck to bringing a lunch from home!!

Do a Little Turn on the Catwalk

Today Ethan, fashion model, made his debut! They had a "Back to School" fashion show at the PX. You got to pick out an outfit from there, and then model it down the runway. He LOVED walking down the runway - during practice LOL He did it probably 20 times, and posed and everything. Then when the real time came, he walked it, but was all nervous and forgot to pose. So cute though!!

Cake & Homework

Day 2 done, and now E is glad it's a weekend.

I made him this cupcake cake today. I forgot that I bought this pan on sale last year, and this is the first time I used it. I need some more practice, but E liked it.

And here he is doing his first homework! He has to write his name 4 times. We are half way done, and saving the rest for tomorrow. He's got way too much energy when he comes home from school. Doesn't help that it was 100* today, so they had a very short recess.

He's back....

and he gives kindergarten 2 thumbs up! All he could remember was that he colored, had to write his name twice, read 2 stories, had lunch and went to recess. I'm so glad he had a good day, and now I know where to go to pick him up! I was stuck in a line of cars 20 minutes long, and he thought I forgot him :(

How did this happen?

I'm fairly certain I just had a baby, so how is it that I just dropped said baby off at Kindergarten?!!

Last night E informed me that I better not cry, because grownups only cry when they are bleeding. He's so loving. I did manage not to cry yet, but the day is going to be very long. He's only been gone a half hour and the house is soooo quiet. Elvis is sleeping in his bed, maybe he misses him too.


His teacher's name is Mrs. Baker. It's her first year teaching, so hopefully she knows what she's doing LOL He likes her so far, and told her she is beautiful when he met her last night. I'm not worried about E, he makes friends easily and is nice to everyone :) So unlike his mother!!

Penguin Backpack he picked out.

Hanging up his backpack in his cubby. He's happy that his friend Chloe is right next to him, although they don't sit together. He is in the "tiger" section, and Chloe is an "elephant".

He's probably going to be mad because the first thing he had to do was color, and he HATES coloring!!

Hair Cut Day

Mr. Ethan got his back to school hair cut today. He wanted to get it bald on the top, and long on the sides, but I wasn't going for that. So he asked for a faux hawk. I didn't realize it would go all the way down the back of his head, but he likes it, so I guess it's ok for now. As soon as he starts whining about me having to spike up his hair I'm shaving the back part off lol

In true Ethan style, he said to the woman cutting his hair..."my name is Ethan by the way, what's yours" her reply, "Sharon". Ethan, "That's a pretty name" Insert flirty smile.

For being so good at the haircut place, he got an ice cream cone. He picked bubble gum because just the other day, Bill & I were talking about how gross it was when we were little because you have to pick the chunks of gum out and save them until you're done eating. E loved it.
