Day 3: Red

The elves made us breakfast...

And Lincoln and Harrison made Santa faces

Ethan had his winter concert, which wasn't nearly as bad as I feared, just very loud. Of course Millie cried as soon as it got quiet and began, and the two boys had to be removed because they couldn't sit still, but other than that, it was fine.

August 1st

So I got a little bit behind, but hoping to catch back up.

Today was Ethan's first day of 6th Grade!! I cannot believe I have a middle schooler! He "let" me walk him to the bus stop but I don't think he was happy about it. Another boy came right up to him and asked him to sit with him, so that was good. He ended up calling me after school to pick him up because the bus was running late and he had to pee LOL. He's going to have to get over his peeing at school phobia!!

This was his back to school cake. It was very last minute, and I had to use what I could find in the house. Aside from the creepy eyes, I think it turned out pretty good.

Day 147 (5th Grade Graduation)

Graduation day!

I can't believe my little baby boy is now a middle schooler! So crazy. I swear I just dropped him off at Kindergarten.

With his teacher, Ms. Kumoshiro.

He was in robotics, student council, and honor society.

Day 62

Ethan's school is celebrating Dr Seuss week, and today was hat day. He had to make a hat that went along with a Dr Seuss book. He obviously chose "The Lorax". I think it turned out pretty cute!

October 21

Report card day!! It's hard to believe Kindergarten is a quarter over already. Soon it will be Christmas, and he'll be half done..yikes! We had a conference with Ethan's teacher tonight. He had his last screening today for the gifted program, so we should be finding out pretty soon if he'll be accepted into it. His teacher has high hopes for him and really hopes he'll get in. She said that she is now sending him 2 days a week to do 1st grade math & reading. His first report card was awesome, 100 in math, reading, technology, gym, and music and a 95 in Art.

First Week of School

E's first week of school in the new class was successful. He was a bit crabby a few days, and didn't want to go, but once he was there he had fun. He is definately more challenged in this class, and is actually learning things. Right now they have him working on his writing, which is for sure the area he needs the most work on. He knows how the letters go, but he's very messy and not good at keeping them the same size.

On Thursday of this week, he has his first field trip - to the pumpkin farm. I asked if I could go, and they said I can. Ethan informed me that he's not sitting next to me on the bus - he's sitting next to a girl. He's so sweet =P

He's getting into the groove of getting up early & going to bed earlier. Of course, this backfires on us when it's Saturday morning and he's up at 6:30, but I guess that's better than him not wanting to get up the rest of the week.

He also carved the first of his pumpkins this week - well ok, he picked the stencil and I carved it. It's supposed to be Minnie Mouse, but the knife thingy broke in the middle of it, and it kind of looks like a blob. He's happy though, so that's what matters. The rest of our pumpkins are going to be traditional faces though!

I guess in the picture it does kind of look like Minnie. Awesome!

I tried to take a few pictures of Ethan & Elvis together yesterday, because Elvis was sitting nice. Of course as soon as E comes and sits next to him, he starts giving him dog kisses - GROSS!

Moving On Up

I got to E's school early today to talk with the teacher and see how he's doing since he crys and screams and doesn't want to go. She told me he's really good in class, knows all the answers, etc but she thinks he'd do better in the morning class - which is basically the getting ready for kindergarten class that we should have put him in in the first place.

So now I've been chasing back and forth trying to switch him into the morning class. It will be every day, Mon - Fri from 8:30 - 11:30. I think that once he gets into it he'll like it a lot better. The kids will all be his age (he's the oldest in the class he's in right now) and they are working on things more on his level - writing & sounds of letters, simple math, etc.

Only problem is they won't let me switch him for 2 weeks so now he has 2 more weeks in this class and then he'll start in the new class. I feel kind of bad to make him go into a class where he doesn't know anyone and start all over again, but like I said, I think it will be better for him in the long run. His teacher said that he doesn't really connect with the kids in his class because they are all younger. He will still have the same teachers, so that will help.

Our caterpiller is still alive - we gave him some fresh leaves today. He sort of looks a different color - more of a dark reddish brown. Not sure what that means.

We went to see "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" this weekend in 3D. It was ok, Ethan sat really nice and liked it. It's storming here right now and he keeps looking out the window to see if there is a spaghetti tornado coming LOL The movie was much better than the book - which we gave to Goodwill after reading once. I remember reading it when I was little and liking it though - guess I didn't have good taste.

Oh, something else cute he asked this weekend. He wanted to know if there was any color in Kansas. I guess he was paying attention when we watched "The Wizard of Oz".

First Day of School

E had his first day of 4 year old preschool today. He goes Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 12:30 - 3:30 which doesn't sound like a ton of time, but those 3 hours dragged on for me today!

He didn't want me to leave, but I told him I had to, gave him a kiss and left. He just sat at a table by himself looking so sad :(

When I got there to pick him up they were singing songs, and I could hear him talking & singing along, so I think he likes it.

He told me that he did a big puzzle with some other kids, played on the computer in the classroom, they had story time & song time, but didn't get to go outside (it was raining) and for some reason didn't have a snack. I think he likes it, but he claims he doesn't :P

He ran and jumped up and gave me a huge hug when I got there :) There is a cute little blond girl named Bailey that he keeps trying to talk to but she is shy, so maybe there is a friendship waiting to bloom there. He said all the kids & his teacher are nice, and no one is naughty like the boys at his old school LOL

Here's hoping for a good year and lots of new friends!
